Duke Stops St. John's

Duke's non-conference home win streak goes to 94 with the win over St. John's 83 to 76. St. John's was unable to handle the size of the duke bigs, and stop the 3 pointers from the Duke guards.

St John's out shot Duke 44% to 41%. Duke had the edge on the boards 38 rebounds for Duke and 36 for St. John's.

Mason Plumlee and Ryan Kelly led the scoring for The Blue Devils with 15 points each and Mason Plumlee took rebound honors with 17. Duke is still lacking on their defense, and they are going to have trouble winning against ranked teams if they don't improve their defense.

The over-all stats were in St. John's favor, so on paper St. John's should have won this game, but because of the size advantage Duke got the win at the free throw line shooting 76% 32 out of 42.

Duke Over Maryland 74 To 61

Mason Plumlee took control tonight with 23 points and 12 rebounds leading the Blue Devils to victory over the Terrapins 74 to 61.

It was a close game, but the Blue Devils had the edge with Duke shooting 49% to Maryland's 40%, Duke also led in rebounding 33 to 28.

Mason Plumlee was the star player tonight, but even better than that he was hot at the free throw lane. In my opinion as a group this is the most talented offensive team Duke has had in a long time.

They do need to work on defense though, something Duke has always had in the past was a good defensive team.

Florida State Takes Down Duke

It was a great game, but it ended the wrong way with Florida State winning 76 to 73. It was a 3 pointer with .4 seconds on the clock that ended Duke's home game winning streak.

Florida State played the Blue Devils tough the whole game, honestly this game could have went either way. The Seminoles did out shoot Duke 54% to 39%, and the Devils did squeak out one more rebound than Florida State 29 to 28.

Austin Rivers was the leading scorer for Duke with 19 points and Miles Plumlee led the rebounding stats with 8. It is what it is and it's time to forget about the loss and move on, but it will take a few days to get over, even though Florida State won the game fair and square.

Nothing bad can be said about the Duke players, they played and outstanding game, it was just one of those close games, that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

Duke Takes Down Wake Forest

Duke easily handles Wake Forest 91 to 73, giving the Blue Devils a 16 and 2 over all record and a conference record of 4 and 0. Duke had full control in the game from the start.

Andre Dawkins led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 21 points as the team shot 53%. Duke had 37 rebounds and Ryan Kelly had most of those with 10.

Duke gets their 45th consecutive victory at Cameron, but the #4 Blue Devils could have a hard time getting 46 against Florida State Saturday.

Duke Gets The Win Over Clemson

Duke wins over Clemson 73 to 66. I didn't get to see the game, but my son called and said Duke didn't play that well the first 8 minutes of the game.

I did get a few stats for you though. Duke shot 43% and pulled down 34 rebounds. Andre Dawkins was the high scorer with 24 points and Miles Plumlee was the top rebounder with 13.

Duke turned the ball over 17 times, which is way to much. Duke moves their record to 15 and 2. Duke will play Wake Forest next.

Duke Squeaks By Virginia

#6 Duke wins a close one against #17 Virginia 61 to 58. Duke goes to 14-2 and 2-0, Virginia goes to 14-2 and 1-1. Duke had the shooting 52% to 39% and Virginia had the rebounding 35 to 26, but the shooting won.

Mason Plumlee was the top scorer and rebounder for the Blue Devils with 12 points and 7 rebounds, Ryan Kelly also had 7 rebounds.

It was a close game the whole first half with the Cavaliers leading at the half 32 to 28. Duke was able to get a 9 point lead in the second half, but by the end of the game Virginia was able to put themselves in position to tie the game, they missed two shots at the end to give Duke the win.

Duke's next conference game will be against Clemson. Go Duke!

Duke Beats Georgia Tech

Duke goes to 13 and 2 and Georgia Tech goes to 7 and 8 with Duke's 81 to 74 win over the Yellow Jackets.

Ryan Kelly was the big gun for Duke with 21 points, Mason Plumlee was the top dog on the boards with 7. Duke shot 46% and pulled down 22 rebounds.

Duke's next conference game is with Virginia, I hope it won't be as close as this one, but anything can happen in these conference games.

Duke Falls to Temple

The #3 Blue Devils lose to the 9-3 Temple Owls 78 to 73. Duke just couldn't handle the temple guards.

Miles Plumlee led the scoring for Duke with 17 points and brother Mason took rebound honors with 12. Temple led in the stats, shooting 58% to Duke's 47%, the big surprise was rebounding the smaller temple team out rebounded duke 29 to 28.

Just as soon as Duke moves up in rankings to #3 in the nation, they take their second loss. Now they go into conference play 12-2 and anything can happen in conference play.

Duke Gets An Easy Win Over Pennsylvania

Duke gets another easy win over Pennsylvania 85 to 55. Duke goes to 12-1 and Pennsylvania goes to 6-8. Ryan Kelly led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 18 points and shared the rebound lead with Mason Plumlee with 12 each.

Duke led the Quakers in almost all the stats shooting 49% to 35%, rebounds 43 to 25, and 3-Pointers 45% to 23%. Pennsylvania did out shoot Duke at the free throw line 100% to 66%.

Ryan Kelly has got his shooting back the last couple of games and that is a big positive for Duke as they inch closer to conference play.

Duke Rolls Over Western Michigan

I thought the Blue Devils might be a little rusty after their 10 day layoff, but they came out strong against Western Michigan to increase their record to 11-1 with a 110 to 70 win. The Broncos record goes to 5 -8.

Scoring honors go to Seth Curry with 22 points and rebound honors go to Miles Plumlee with 14 rebounds. Duke shot 55% to 40% for Western Michigan. The Devils out rebounded the Broncos 38 to 24.

The win extends the #7 ranked Blue Devils non-conference home win record to 92. The big positive for Duke tonight was free throw shooting at 80%.

Duke Rolls Over N.C. (Greensboro)

It took Duke a little while to warm up, but they get the win against N.C. (Greensboro) 90 to63. The Spartans were able to keep the game close until the last few minutes of the first half when Duke got hot with the 3 point shot.

Mason Plumlee poured in 15 points to lead the Devils in scoring and took rebounds honors with 13. Austin Rivers had 14 points and Quinn cook had a nice showing off the bench with 14 points. The Blue Devils shot 53% while the Spartans could only manage 38%.

Duke had 18 turnovers and didn't shoot that well on the free throw line, but they haven't played in a while so they may have been a little rusty. They have the talent, but they didn't look like the number 7 team in the nation in the first half of this game. They did look better the second half, and they got the win, so can't beat them up too much.

Duke Gets By Washington

Duke shuts down another good 3 point shooting team 86 to 80 , but Duke showed some weakness. The Blue Devils had control most of the game, but their free throw shooting gave Washington a chance to win this game, Duke shot 61% from the free throw line.

If Duke continues to shoot free throws like they did today they will have a hard time winning any close games. Rivers and Curry both fouled out of this game, it happened late in the game, but if that had happened a little earlier that would have had a big impact on this game.

Rivers led the scoring for Duke with 18 points, Ryan Kelly and Mason Plumlee each pulled down 9 rebounds. Andre Dawkin had a good game pouring in 17 points. Duke out rebounded the Huskies 39 to 32 which turned out to be one of the main reason Duke won this game, the other being blocked shots, Duke blocked 7 shots.

Duke Too Big For Colorado St.

The 8 and1 Blue Devils come back strong after their loss to Ohio St. with a win over the 5 and 4 Colorado St. Rams. Duke came out strong on defense in the first half, causing the Rams to turn the ball over 11 times. Duke led the first half by 17 points 47 to 30.

Duke continued the tough defense in the second half and rolls past Colorado St. 87 to 64. Austin Rivers led the Devils in the win with 17 points. Mason Plumlee took rebound honors with 11. The Blue Devils shot a respectable 56%, but their free throw shooting was a little weak at 60%.

Duke was a much bigger team, but their tough defense was the key to the win tonight. Colorado St. is a good 3 point shooting team, but the blue devils were able to shut the 3 point shot down with tough defense.

Ohio State Demolishes Duke

Ok it looked bad, but Duke just wasn't ready for Ohio State. Duke is still a good team and they will be ready the next time they meet a team the caliber of the Buckeyes.

Duke was down 19 points at the end of the first half and it never got any better. Ohio State came to play and play they did. The Buckeyes out shot and out rebounded the Blue Devils. The final score was 85 to 63.

Austin Rivers did all he could do to keep Duke in the game, he led the Devils with 22 points. Mason Plumlee had 16 points and pulled down 9 rebounds and that was about all the offense Duke had tonight.

I know most of you are not feeling that great about this game, but Duke will come back from this, they always do. I know it didn't look like it tonight, but Duke is a good team and this is just one game.

Duke Beats Kansas

Wow what a game, I didn't think this game would be any tougher than the last two, but I was wrong. I think this is the best Duke has ever played this early in the season. Duke Is Real !!

Kansas out shot Duke 42% to 39%, but Duke gets the win 68 to 61. Ryan Kelly and Mason Plumlee led the Devils with 17 points each, Mason also took rebounding honors with 12.

Kansas out rebounded Duke 32 to 27, but the difference in the game was 3 point shooting the Blue Devils made 11 Kansas made 2. Tyler Thornton made two crucial 3 pointers that put Duke in position to win the game. Every player that was on the floor tonight was a champion they all played an outstanding game both Duke and Kansas.

Duke Defeats Michigan

Duke plays Michigan another good team tonight, but the Blue Devils get the win 80 to 75. Top scorer for Duke was Austin Rivers with 20 points, Rivers also showed his team play with 3 assist.

Seth Curry had a good game with 17 points and Ryan Kelly stepped up and led in rebounds with 6. Duke shot 56% to 47% for the Wolverines, the devils were bigger, but Michigan out rebounded Duke 29 to 25.

Duke has played two very good games against two very good teams in the last two days and they played under control. I can't remember seeing Duke play this much under control this early in the season.

Duke Gets The Win Against Tennessee

Tennessee played tough against Duke, but the Blue Devils were just a little tougher and took the win 77 to67.

Duke shot 48% led by Austin Rivers with 18 points, Seth Curry, and Ryan Kelly, had 17 points each. Mason Plumlee had a good game and pulled down 13 rebounds.

This was a good test for Duke, even though the Tennessee Volunteers are not ranked they are a very good basketball team. Duke is looking good, but they will only get better. They really played a good game today, they are playing team basketball early in the season.

Duke Gets The Win Over Davidson

Davidson kept it close the first half and ended up leading the first half 35 to 34. Different story in the second half. Duke took control and won the game 82 to 69.

Austin Rivers and Seth Curry led the scoring for duke with 17 each. Mason Plumlee pulled down 13 rebounds and added 16 points. Duke came out on top with almost all the shooting stats, Field Goals 52%, 3 Pointers 38%. Davidson did outperform the Devils at the free throw line making 14 of 14, 100%.

Duke Takes Down Michigan State

Duke moves their record to 3 and o with the win over Michigan State, and Coach K moves to the top of the list for career wins. The number 6 Blue devils came out on top in a well fought first half 34 to 33.

Duke took control in the second half, but Michigan State was able to close the gap in the final minutes. Andre Dawkins had 26 points to lead the Devils in the 74 to 69 win. Seth Curry got rebounding honors with 6 and also added 20 points.

Michigan State out shot Duke 45 % to 43 % and they also out rebounded Duke 29 to 28, but Duke's 3 pointers made the difference in the game 10 of 20 for Duke and 4 of 10 for the Spartans. The turnovers where high for both teams 20 for Michigan State and 17 for Duke. This was a good win for Duke and a great accomplishment For Coach K.

Duke And Presbyterian

Duke gets an easy win over Presbyterian 96 to 55. It was one-sided from the very beginning. The win moves Coach K one game away from being number one in career wins.

Ryan Kelly led the scoring for Duke with 17 points. Miles Plumlee took rebounding honors with 11 rebounds. Duke shot 61% and turned the ball over 10 times. The devils had 15 fouls, far less than last night, so all and all they played much better than they played last night.

Duke Takes Down Belmont

I was unable to see the game, but I have the stats for you. Duke led at the end of the first half 39 to 30. Belmont took the second half 46 to 38, but the final score was 77 to 76 in favor of Duke.

Seth Curry and Austin Rivers led the Devils in scoring with 16 points each. Mason Plumlee pulled down 14 rebounds. Duke shot 42% while Belmont shot 47%.

As a team Duke had 33 rebounds to Belmont's 31. Duke turned the ball over 19 times compared to 17 for Belmont. Duke had 21 fouls, Belmont had 25. Just like last year Duke has started out fouling and turning the ball over, two things they will need to work on.

Like I said I didn't see the game, but it looks like Duke was just lucky to win this game. They have the talent, so I hope they use it in their next game, because luck usually runs out.

Kyrie Irving leaving Duke

Ok, most of you have heard Kyrie Irving is going to enter the NBA Draft.

How do I feel about it?

I would like to see him stay at Duke, but it comes down to what is best for him, and I guess he thinks it's best for him to go pro.

It's a big loss for Duke, but I hope everything works out for him. Duke will still have a good team next season without Kyrie, so I still expect to see them make it to the big dance next season.

I really didn't think Irving would leave Duke, since he didn't get to play the full season, but it's a great opportunity for him.

Duke Ends Their Season

Arizona defeats Duke 93 to 77. No excuses, Arizona just out played Duke. Arizona out shot Duke 53 % to 46% and out rebounded them 35 to 26.

Kyrie Irving led the Devils with 28 points and Kyle Singler had 8 rebounds, but Arizona's Derrick Williams had 32 points and 13 rebounds to take the Wildcats to the final 8.

Duke has nothing to be ashamed of, they played a good game, but Arizona was the better team tonight. I wish I could tell you who Duke plays next, but The Blue Devils will be coming home. Thanks for a great season Duke.

Thanks Nolan and Kyle we will miss you next year.

Duke Goes To The Sweet 16

Duke squeaks past Michigan 73 to 71 to make it to the Sweet 16. Nolan Smith led the Blue Devils in scoring with 24 points. I thought Duke was in control most of the game, they didn't have a large lead, but seemed to be in control.

All that changed in the last two minutes and I thought it was a good possibility The Blue Devils were going to lose the game. I don't know what happened to change things around, but thank goodness Duke ended up on top, it could have gone either way.

Duke had a huge advantage in rebounding 31 to 18 and that was probably why Duke looked in control so much of the game. The blue devils shot 51% to 50% for Michigan. Duke will play next Thursday, 3-24-11 against Arizona at 9:45 p.m. ET.

Duke Rolls Over Hampton

No contest, Duke gets by Hampton easily 87 to 45. Kyrie Irving gets back on the court for Duke, but is a little rusty in the first half after being out with a toe injury. He knocked off the rust in the second half and ended up with 14 points to lead the Devils in scoring.

Miles Plumlee led the Blue Devils in rebounding with 13. Duke only had 9 turnovers and that was with giving the second team players extra playing time. Duke shot 53 % compared to Hampton's 33% Duke was a much bigger team and out rebounded Hampton 36 to 23.

Duke will play Michigan next Sun. 3-20-2011,2:45 p.m..

Duke Takes "The ACC Title"!!

Duke rolls past UNC 75 to 58 to take their 19th ACC title. Nolan Smith led the Blue Devils with 20 points. North Carolina out rebounded Duke 39 to 32, but Duke was able to beat them with excellent defense.

I am going to enjoy the rest of my day because there is not much more to say other than Duke Wins! I will have Duke's schedule in the NCAA for you when it is announced.

Duke Gets Past Virginia Tech

Duke takes down Virginia Tech 77 to 63 and makes the finals against North Carolina. Nolan Smith led Duke in scoring with 27 points, an Kyle Singler led the Devils with 10 rebounds.

Duke shot 47% which was the main reason the Blue Devils were able to keep the lead through the entire game. Both teams were about the same on the boards. The only problems Duke had was with turnovers, something they can't do against Carolina.

It will be Duke and Carolina in the finals tomorrow, March 13, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.

Duke Moves On In ACC Tournament

Duke stays in the tournament by defeating Maryland 87 to 71. Seth Curry had to take over when Nolan Smith jammed his toe and had to leave the game.

I know Nolan has done a great job this season, but Seth Curry is the dish. Maybe it was just a one time thing, but Curry and Singler sure looked like the best match for starting guards to me.

Kyle Singler led the Blue Devils in shooting with 29 points and Mason Plumlee led the Devils in rebounds with 11. Duke led in the stats, but Maryland stayed close most of the game. Duke will play the winner of the Fla. St. Virginia Tech. game, Sat. Mar. 12, at 3:15 p.m.

Carolina gets a well deserved win over Duke 81 to 67. Carolina shot 52% to Duke's 36%. The Tar Heels out shot the Blue Devils and out rebounded them 40 to 31 and ends up number one.

Nolan Smith had 30 points and Mason Plumlee had 10 rebounds, but Carolina's scoring was more balanced. It's a big loss for Duke, but there is not much you can do when your shooting is off.

I know I am upset with the loss as many of you are, but Duke has a week to rest up before the ACC Tournament starts and maybe they will take the ACC Title. I will post the Tournament schedule for you when it is announced.

Virginia Tech takes down #1 Duke 64 to 60. The big difference in the game was rebounding. Va. Tech had 41 rebounds to Duke's 32. Duke was able to keep it close because Virginia Tech only shot 42% from the line, and Duke shot 76%, All the other states were equal.

Duke played a good game, but they had trouble dropping the 3 point shot. Kyle Singler led the Devils with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The loss moves Duke to 26 and 3 and the Hokies go to 19 and 8. I give the whole Duke team credit tonight. The whole team played good tonight, both first and second team, they all had a part in this win tonight. Even though a few players scored more this was a balanced team effort.

Duke shot 48% and pulled down 34 rebounds. They turned the ball over 11 times, but they caused 11 turnovers by Temple. The Blue Devils also had a good night at the line shooting 94%. Duke's next game is Sat, Feb 26 against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. at 9:00 p.m.

Duke Over Georgia Tech 79 to 57

Nolan Smith takes scoring honors as Duke defeats Georgia Tech 79 to 57. Georgia Tech had the lead almost all of the first half, but you never had the feeling the Blue Devils were not going to win this game.

Duke started taking control with only two minutes left in the first half and never let up. Both Kyle Singler and Mason Plumlee played good defense as each had 9 rebounds.

Duke dominated GT in the shooting with 45% and rebounding with 38 rebounds. It's a good possibility the Blue Devils could move up in the rankings next week, possibly the number one spot. Duke's next game is Wed, Feb 23 against Temple in Durham, N.C. at 7:00 p.m.

Duke Rolls Past Virginia

Nolan Smith led Duke over Virginia with 22 points. Virginia just couldn't get the ball in the basket. Many of their shots were half way in the basket, but they wouldn't stay in.

Duke builds their record to 24 and 2 with the 56 to 41 win. Virginia goes to 12 and 13. Duke had 16 turnovers, but Virginia couldn't take advantage because they couldn't get the ball to drop through the net.

Duke shot 50% to Virginia's 26% in a low scoring game. The Blue Devils also out rebounded Virginia 37 to 27. Ryan Kelly had a good night under the net with 4 blocked shots. Duke Over Miami 81 to 71

Miami keeps it close for much of the game, but Duke finally takes charge and beats the Hurricanes 81 to 71. The win moves Duke to 23 and 2 and Miami goes to 15 and 10.

The Blue Devil guards did most of the scoring, but the big guys are starting to do a lot more scoring, which makes Duke a much more balanced team.

Nolan Smith led the scoring for the Devils with 18 points, with help from Seath Curry and Kyle Singler. Singler also took rebounding honors with 7 rebounds. Even though the game stayed close most of the first half, it never seemed Duke was in any trouble. It was a good solid game for the #5 Blue Devils.

Duke Stays On Top With Win Over North Carolina

The Duke players had to play their heart out, but they took a big win over Carolina 79 to 73. It looked like the Tar Heels were going to take first place in the ACC, I mean they looked good, but Duke came out the second half and took over.

Nolan Smith led the Devils with 34 points, but Seth Curry got the Blue Devils in the game, Curry had 22 points. Mason Plumlee, Kyle Singler, and Miles Plumlee did the work under the basket with 8 rebounds each.

Carolina had a slight edge in the stats and they played a fantastic game, but some how Duke gets the win. I am so glad the Devils were able to keep their home streak going. Ok, that's it for the night, I am exhausted. Go Duke!!!!

Duke Defeats N.C. St.

Nolan Smith has 20 points to lead Duke to a 76 to 52 victory over N.C. St. Mason Plumlee has another outstanding game adding 16 points and 12 rebounds. This game was never in doubt Duke led by 29 points at the end of the first half. It was a one way game, but it was nice to see as Duke looked like the #1 team in the nation.

Duke stayed under 10 turnoverers as State turned it over 15 times. There is no sense going over the stats as Duke totally dominated the game. Duke plays the big one next Wed, Feb 09 against North Carolina in Durham, N.C. at 9:00 p.m. Don't miss it!

Duke Takes Down The Terrapins 80 to 62

Klye Singler leads Duke in the win over Maryland, Singler had 22 points. Mason Plumlee had one of his best games with 12 points as he took rebounding honors with 11 rebounds. The Blue Devils did much better with their turnover problem, they only had 8 turnovers.

Maryland put up a good fight but Duke dominated the stats. Duke shot 52% to40% and they out rebounded Maryland 34 to 29. Maryland missed a lot of shots under the basket, some they really should have made, but they were shooting under Duke's pressure which had a lot to do with the misses.

Mason Plumlee had a good game, but I think it is time to bring up something he needs to improve on and that is free throws. If plumlee plays like he did tonight, and he needs to, he is going to get fouled and Duke is going to need those extra points, but so far Mason only makes about 40% of his free throws. So Mason spend a few extra minutes on the free throw line in practice.

It was a good game for Duke after the loss to St. Johns, so the mental part is fixed, now fix what needs fixing and let's win some more basketball games. Duke's next game is Sat, Feb 05, against N.C. State in Durham, N.C. at 6:00 p.m. Go Duke!!!!

Duke is finally starting to look a little better now after their loss to Florida State. The Devils out scored BC 50% to 46%, and kept there turn overs down to only 7 compared to 13 turn overs for BC. Boston College was able to tie Duke in the rebounding with 31 for each team, but Duke out played BC in every other way.

Kyle Singler leads #5 Duke to a 83 to 59 win over Wake Forest, Singler had 24 points. Ryan Kelly does his part with an all time high of 20 points. Duke had a hard time with Wake the first 8 minutes of the game, but it was all Blue Devils after that.

Mason Plumlee took care of the rebounding for Duke with 10 rebounds.
The Blue Devils out rebounded The Deacons 34 to 30 and out shot them 42% to38%. Duke only had 9 turn overs to Wake's 17. Duke's record is 18-1, and Wake Forest goes to 7-13. Duke plays Boston College next on Thursday, Jan. 27th at 8:00pm in Durham,N.C. We will have a little family rivalry next game, so I hope Duke will win.

#5 Duke Takes Down N.C. State 92 to 78

Duke has been trying to drive into brick walls in their last few games, but they must have learned something, because State was the one running into a brick wall tonight. Plumlee and Ryan Kelly did an awesome job on the inside tonight.

Nolan Smith led the Duke Blue Devils as they defeat Virginia 76 to 60. Smith had 29 points and 6 assist in the win. Mason Plumlee had an outstanding 16 rebounds.

What else did Duke have 15 turnovers, that's right 15, and that is why next week they won't be the number 1 team in the nation. Ofcourse Duke did shoot 46% compared to Virginia's 34%.

They also out rebounded Virginia 40 to 25, but when the shooting cools down and they get out rebounded look for Duke to lose another game, because they depend on things they can't control instead of the things they can control.

The 16 and 1 Blue Devils will meet N.C. State in Raleigh, N.C. 7:00 p.m on Wed, Jan 19, 2011. You won't see anymore players in the "Dark Blue Side", because that is just a pat on the hand compared to a loss, which didn't wake them up.

Florida State Hands Duke Their First Loss

Florida State takes down the #1 team in the nation 65 to 61. Kyle Singler led the Devils with 20 points in a losing cause. I hope Duke gets the wake up call, because they have thought all season long they could continue to turn the ball over 14 times a game and still win.

Maybe they will wake up now and see that they are not always going to shoot over 50% a game and when they turn the ball over 14 times and shoot 31% they are not going to win.

Duke had nothing on the inside against Florida State, and their outside shooting was not there either. Mason Plumlee had 11 rebounds for the Blue Devils, but Florida State pulled down as many rebounds as Duke did with 34.

This was just a bad game for Duke, no one goes in the "Dark Blue Side" tonight because I think the loss will be enough to wake them up. Dukes next game is Sat, Jan 15 against Virginia in Durham, N.C. at 2:00 p.m.

Kyle Singler leads Duke to a 71 to 64 win over Maryland, but it wasn't pretty. Duke has 16 turnovers and is out rebounded 39 to 37. The Blue Devils could only shoot a measly 40%.

Singler had 25 points and 10 rebounds in a very close game, Maryland blocked 8 of Dukes shots on the inside and 3 point shooting was atrocious for the Devils at 28%.

Smith Leads Duke Past Alabama-Birmingham

Nolan Smith leads Duke past UAB with a career high 33 points. This was a much better game than the last, Duke came out on fire taking a 22 point lead early in the first half.

The Blue Devils only had 7 turnovers and shot 49% in the 85 to 64 win. Mason Plumlee looked good tonight with 14 points and 7 rebounds, although Ryan Kelly had one more rebound to lead in that dept.

Duke Gets First ACC Win

Duke beats Miami tonight 74 to 63 for their first ACC win. Nolan Smith led the blue Devils with 28 points. Mason Plumlee was the top rebounder with 9.

This was not one of the Blue Devils better games, they turned the ball over 14 times and if it hadn't been for Smith the scoring would have been much lower than the 44% they ended up with.

Miami kept the game close early in the first half, but Duke had one of the spurts they are known for and got a lead of 13 points. After that one spurt it was just a back in forth boring game. Both teams did play good defense though.

This was not supposed to be a close game and it wasn't. Duke came in to the game 11 and 0 and N.C. Greensboro came in at 0 and 11. It really showed with the turnovers duke had 7 turnovers and N.C. G had 25.

Duke Goes 11-0 With Win Over Elon

Duke Wins Without Irving

Kyrie Irving is out of the Duke lineup indefinitely with a toe injury, but that didn't stop the Dukies from beating Bradley. The win gives Duke a record of 9 and 0, and Coach K moves his record up a notch as being the number 3 most winning coach in history.

Andre Dawkins was on fire tonight and took top shooting honors with a career high of 28 points in the 83 to 48 win. Mason Plumlee was the top rebounder with 7 rebounds. Nolan Smith took over point guard tonight and did his part with 10 assist.

This was Duke's game all the way even though they did start off a little slow. The Blue Devils shot 50% compared to bradley's 33%, they also kept the turnovers down with only 9. This was a good game for Duke and made it possible for some players to get in the game that I haven't seen play much.

The Blue Devils Bite The Bulldogs

Butler stayed with Duke well into the second half, but foul trouble got the best of the Bulldogs. Midway through the second half Duke took control over Butler and never looked back. The final score was Duke 82 Butler 70.

Nolan Smith led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 24 points and Andre Dawkins a guard took the rebounding honors with 8 rebounds. Duke shot 46% to Butler's 44%. The Devils 3 point shooting was way off, shooting only 30% compared to 53% for Butler.

Duke had 15 turnovers 2 more than Butler had, but because of Butler's foul trouble and low free throw percentage (50%), the Blue Devils turnovers didn't prevent Duke from taking the win.

Duke Prevails Over Michigan State

Michigan St bows to Duke tonight, but they don't have anything to be ashamed of, because they are a very good team. This game really came down to not who is the best, but who was going to make the most mistakes.

Michigan St is a much faster team than Duke and the Blue Devils had a hard time containing them because of their speed. The Spartans shot a little better than Duke 51% to 47% and they also out rebounded the Devils.

The difference in the game came down to turn overs and free throw shooting. Duke ended up with 15 turnovers (too many) and Michigan St. had 20. The Blue Devils shot 71% from the line and the Spartans shot only 53%.

Kyrie Irving had his best game yet for Duke leading the scoring stats with 31 points. Mason Plumlee took the rebounding honors with 10. The final score was Duke 84 Michigan St. 79, but it was a close one all the way through. If you missed this one you missed a very good game.

The Blue Devils will take on Butler the team they only beat by two points in the National Championship game last year on Sat, Dec 04 at East Rutherford, N.J. at 3:15 p.m.

Duke goes to 6-0 after beating Oregon this afternoon 98 to 71. Duke out played the Ducks from start to finish, the loss drops Oregon's record to 4-2.

Duke shot a decent 52% today compared to Oregon's 32%. Kyle Singler led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 30 points, his all time best this season. Mason Plumlee took top rebounding honors with 11 rebounds.

After turning the ball over 7 times in the first half, Duke only had a total of 9 turnovers for the entire game. I hope this is right, but I think there was a problem with the turnover stats, so this stat may not be correct.

This was a good warm up for next week, when Duke meets it's toughest competition so far this season. Duke plays #2 Michigan St. on Wed, Dec 01 in Durham, N.C. at 9:30 p.m.

Duke Rolls Past Kansas St.

The #1 Duke Blue Devils took down the #4 Kansas St. Wildcats tonight 82 to 68. I was looking for a much closer game , but the Wildcats couldn't contain the Duke guards. Nolan Smith and Kyrie Irving led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 17 points.

The stats were not that good for Duke, but they were even worse for Kansas St. Duke shot 48% and had 14 turnovers, but Kansas St. shot 46% and 20 turnovers, but the big difference in the game was free throws.

Duke shot 77 % from the line and Kansas St. shot 47% from the line. This was a big factor in Duke's win tonight. Even though Duke had less turnovers than Kansas St. they need to bring the turnovers down, because the next time they play they may not be able to depend on the other team having more turnovers than them.

Duke is a great defensive team, but they will never stay undefeated turning the ball over that many times. Another thing that worries me are the fouls, four Duke players had 4 fouls. I know Duke is deep, but the game is coming when the Blue Devils shooting is going to go cold and the one guy that is hot will be sitting on the bench with 5 fouls, come on Duke don't let that happen.

Ok that is my little rant, but I was pleased with the play tonight, the guards did play an outstanding game tonight, and Duke did beat the #4 team in the nation so the four players with the 4 fouls don't go in the "Darker Blue Side" tonight, but let's do a little better next game.

Duke Gets The Win By Their Chinny Chin Chin

Duke came out on top, but Marquette didn't give it to Duke, the Devils had to fight for this one. Mason Plumlee led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
Marquette gave Duke all they wanted tonight.

Duke turned the ball over 18 times, this was the first game that the Blue Devils had more turnovers than the competition, Marquette had 12 turnovers. Duke did shoot a little better this game which helped compensate for the turnovers. Duke shot 54%

Mason Plumlee was able to get the fouling under control tonight and it's a good thing he did, because Duke would have had a hard time beating Marquette with Mason on the bench. Kyrie Irving led in assist with 8 along with his 11 points. Hope this game didn't wear Duke down too much, because they have another game tomorrow.

Kyle Singler took the scoring honors tonight with 18 points, kyle also led in rebounding with 9 rebounds. Nolan Smith an outstanding shooter in his own right, showed his team play with 9 assist along with his 16 points. Kyrie Irving also had 9 assist and 13 points.

Shooting could have been better in the first half, the Blue Devils only shot 38% in the first half, but it picked up in the second half for a total of 47%. Duke only turned the ball over 8 times, so they are getting better with the turnovers.

I would like to see the shooting improve a little, and the Plumlees need to work on their fouls, but it was another good game for Duke. Duke's next game is Mon, Nov 22 Marquette at Kansas City, Mo. 7:30 p.m.

Duke takes the early lead on the (1-0) Miami (Ohio) Redhawks with Mason Plumlee pulling down 8 rebounds. Kyle Singler led the scoring in the first half with eight points, followed by Mason Plumlee and Andre Dawkins each with seven points.

Duke only had four turnovers in the first half compared to eight for Miami (Ohio). This was a big improvement over their last game against Princeton where the Blue Devils had eight turnovers in the first half.

The turnovers edged up a little in the second half for a total of 9, but Duke takes the win over Miami (Ohio) 79 to 45. Seth Curry led the scoring for the Blue Devils with 17 points. Mason Plumlee ends up with 14 rebound.

Duke had eight turnovers in the first half compared to Princeton's 16, the ratio was not bad, but turnovers have caused Duke to lose games in the past, so I would like to see those lower.

Kyle Singler and Mason Plumlee pick up early fouls in the second half and spent most of their time on the bench. This led to Nolan Smith leading the over all scoring with 22 points. Duke also was able to keep the turn overs down in the second half, and this was with a lot of second string players in the game the second half.

All in all not a bad first game for Duke they had only 14 turn overs with a 97 to 60 win over Princeton. Duke's next game is Tue, Nov 16 against Miami (Ohio) in Durham at 730 p.m. est. time.

When the men's basketball team, at Duke, began competition the first team was coached by Wilbur Wade Card back in 1905. He left the team in 1912 after accumulating a record of 30-7. During the following years the team had one coach after another. Most of them lasted just a year or two until Eddie Cameron came aboard. He started with Duke in 1928 and stayed until 1942. He racked up 226 wins with 99 losses. The team played in the Southern Conference and his team had a record of 119-56.

Following Cameron the new coach was Gerry Gerard. He accumulated a record of 131-78 and was followed by Harold Bradley. During Bradley's first three seasons his team remained in the Southern Conference; however, in the 1953-54 season the team joined the Atlantic Coast Conference. His overall record was 167-78. In 1959 Vic Bubas joined Duke as the head coach. His ten year tenure gave the team a record of 213-67. Bucky Waters then joined the Duke team for four seasons followed by Neill McGeachy who stayed for just one season. He was followed by Bill Foster who coached from 1974 to 1980. He ended with a record of 113-64.

Then Mike Krzyzewski arrived at Duke in 1980. It is hard to believe that he still remains as the men's basketball coach after 30 years. The coach has an impressive record standing at 787-222. His coaching in the Atlantic Coast Conference League has a record of 309-134. Under Coach Krzyzewski the team has won some outstanding honors including four National Championships. Aside from this his teams have made the Final Four in 11 different seasons - the latest one being this year. During Coach Krzyzewski's seasons there have been only five teams that did not play in the Final Four.

During Coach Krzyzewski rein at Duke there have been some outstanding games. One of these was ranked, according to ESPN, as the greatest college basketball game ever played. The 1992 game involved Duke versus Kentucky. It was clear that the Kentucky Wildcats won the game in overtime. Guard Sean Woods hit a running shot off the glass to put the Wildcats up by one point. There was 2.1 seconds left on the clock. Following a timeout Grant Hill, from Duke, threw an amazing full-court pass to teammate Christian Laettner. Laettner, under a huge amount of pressure, dribbled down court and landed a turn-around jumper - right as the buzzer sounded. This put Duke in the Final Four with an amazing 104-103 win over the Wildcats.

The "Best Damn Sports Show Period" said the shot was the most memorable of all time - including the NBA, college and high school in 2007. It was also named the fifth most unforgettable sports spectacular of all time in all sports in 2006. Following this victory Duke went on to defeat Michican, the sixth seeded team, 71-51. This resulted in Duke winning its second NCAA Championship. Following this Coach Krzyzewski was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Singler Stays Another Year At Duke

Kyle Singler has decided to stay at Duke. Many people thought he might turn pro, but he wants to try and win the NCAA again. With Singler staying it should give Duke a good chance to go back to the NCAA, but it will be a big task to win it 2 years in a row.

I will be pulling for them to win it all next year though, Duke should have another outstanding team especially with Singler back.

Duke Wins NCAA Championship

Duke beats Butler 61 to 59 to win the NCAA Championship. Kyle Singler led the Blue Devils with 19 points, but the hero was Brian Zoubek. With less than 4 seconds left in the game Zoubek pulled down a rebound and was fouled.

Zoubek made the first free throw and missed the second on purpose so there would be less time for Butler to make a shot. Butler almost made the shot just passed half court and the game went to Duke.

Brian Zoubek had another outstanding game for Duke with 8 points and 10 rebounds. This was a close game all the way, I don't think the Blue Devils ever had more than a 5 point lead. Duke out shot and out rebounded Butler, but Butler stayed close all game and even had the lead a few times. It was a nail biter, but I am so happy Duke won. Thanks to all the fans that supported them, this is our reward.

Well the season is over so I won't be posting as much until next season, but thanks for following, I look forward to another good season next year. GO DUKE!!!!

Duke Will Play In Championship Game

It all comes down to Duke and Butler on Monday. Duke took down West Virginia 78 to 57 to make it to the final game. Jon Scheyer led the Blue Devils with 23 points, but the outside shooting was outstanding for the big 3.

Brian Zoubek had another outstanding game for Duke with 6 points and 10 rebounds. This was probably the best game Duke has played all year and like Coach K said after the game they needed it to beat W.Virginia. I hope they have one more game in them like this one, that's all they need just one more good game.

Duke plays Butler Mon, Apr. 5th broadcasting starts at 9:00pm est, so the game should start sometime later, but I am not sure of the exact time. ALL THE WAY DUKE!!

Duke Makes The Final Four

Duke beats Baylor 78 to 71 and will be going to the final four in Indianapolis. Nolan Smith led the Devils with 29 points, but my hat is off to Lance Thomas and Brian Zoubek for their rebounding. Thomas had two game changing rebounds late in the second half that led to two 3 point shots that gave Duke the lead with less than 2 minutes in the game.

I give credit to Baylor they played one heck of a game, but Duke had a spurt like they usually do and that was the difference in a win or loss. The only problem was Duke had that spurt a little too late in the game for me, I was a nervous wreck. Duke plays West Virginia next on Sat, Apr. 3rd at 8:47pm est. ALL THE WAY DUKE!!

Duke Stays Alive

The Blue Devils of Duke University move on to the final 8 by a score of 70 to 57. Kyle Singler kept the Devils in the game in the first half, but Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith came on in the second half. Singler ended up as the top scorer for duke with 24 points.

Duke turned the ball over 11 times in the first half, but only turned it over 2 times in the second half. Duke was able to grab twice as many rebounds as Purdue, Brian Zoebek led the team in rebounds with 14.

It was a defensive battle most of the game, but Duke took control late in the game with size and better shooting. Duke plays Baylor next on Sun, Mar 28 at 5:05pm est.

Duke Makes The Sweet Sixteen

Duke beats California 68 to 53 to make the sweet sixteen in Houston. I hope Duke can go all the way, but I am happy they made it to the sweet sixteen, because that is a big accomplishment.

Nolan Smith had another good game and led the Devils with 20 points. Brian Zoubek had a double double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Duke shot 47% a little less than last game, but better than Cal.

This was another easy game for Duke, and I thought it would be a close game. I hope the rest of the games will be this easy, but I doubt they will be. Duke will play Purdue next, Fri, Mar 26 in Houston Texas at 9:57pm est.

Duke Drops Arkansas-Pine Bluf

Duke wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluf 73 to 44. I am happy Duke won, but this was not a very exciting game. Duke owned this game from the tip off. The Blue Devils just had to much size and they used it to their advantage.

Kyle Singler stood out again with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Singler has gone into over drive the last 4 or 5 games. Brian Zoubek has also been a big asset on the inside.

It's hard to say how well Duke will do as the tournament goes on, but Duke's shooting improved this game to 51% so that is a good sign. Duke will play California next, Sun, Mar 21 in Jacksonville Fla at 5:30pm est.

Duke Wins ACC Championship

Coach K said in an interview before the game that championship games usually come down to one good shot. Jon Scheyer hasn't shot very well in the tournament, but he made that one good shot for Duke.

Final score was Duke 65 Georgia Tech 61. Although Duke led the whole game it was anybodys game until Jon Scheyer made the 3 point shot with less than a minute left in the game.

Kyle Singler led the scoring for Duke with 20 points, and Brian Zoebek pulled down 9 rebounds Georgia Tech shot better than Duke 43% to 35%, but they also had more turnovers. If Georgia Tech had not had 17 turnovers the Blue Devils would have had a much harder time with the Yellow Jackets, because they are an excellent 3 point shooting team.

I am still calming down from the game, so I will finish with congratulating Duke on the championship and wishing them luck in the NCAA Tournament.

Duke Takes Down Miami

Duke played a better game today, but Miami was never out of the game. The final score was 77 to 74. Singler took control again with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Scheyer had another bad day with shooting, but he helps the team in many other ways.

The Duke defense was outstanding in the second half, but Miami made a comeback, just like they did in the first half. Miami led at the half 35 to 32. Duke shot 48% on offense much better than their last game.

I need to watch the next game now, I am expecting N.C. State to win the next game and play Duke tomorrow, but we will know for sure shortly.

Duke Moves On!

Not a very good game for Duke, but they managed to beat Virginia 57 to 46. Kyle Singler led both scoring and rebounding with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Duke 27 and 5 and number 4 in the nation looked sluggish and could do no better than a tie with Virginia at the half.

My son just called and said he noticed how sluggish Duke looked and he thinks Coach K may have told his players to take it easy so they wouldn't wear themselves out. I hope he is right because they will need to play better than they did today to win the ACC Championship.

Duke Wins The Big One!!

Duke rolls past UNC 82 to 50. The Blue Devils takes a 27 point lead into the locker room in the first half and they don't let up in the second half.

Kyle Singler was the top scorer for Duke with 26 points and Brian Zoubek had another good night with 12 rebounds.

Not much to say about the game other than is was a total blowout. Duke ends the season as the #1 seed in the ACC.

Maryland Dunks Duke

Maryland defeats Duke 79 to 72, so Duke will probably lose their #4 ranking next week. Maryland came out strong against Duke in the first half, but Duke was able to come back and was only down 2 points at the half.

Duke played much better the second half, but could never pull away from the Terrapins. Vasquez was the high scorer for Maryland with 20 points, which was no surprise. Nolan Smith led the Devils with 20 points. Zoubek had an outstanding 13 rebounds, but it was just not enough to stop the hot shooting Terrapins

Maryland is now tied with Duke for the lead in the ACC standings. Duke plays their last regular season game against UNC next Sat. Mar. 06 at 9:00 pm est. in Durham, N.C.

Duke Gets Easy Win On The Road

It was an easy win for Duke 67 to 49, but Virginia was missing their top player Sylven Landesberg, he was out with a bruised thigh.

The game was never in doubt, the Blue Devils were in total control the whole game. Singler and Scheyer were the dominate offensive players with 41 of the teams 67 points. Zoubek pulled down 6 rebounds and all the players had another good defensive game.

Dukes record goes to 25 and 4 and Virginia goes to 14 and 13. With Purdue losing today Duke could move up another notch to #4 in the nation on Monday. If they do let's hope they can hold on to it, they are going to have a tough game on the road next week.

Duke Takes On Tulsa

Duke Takes down Tulsa 70 to 52 and takes their record to 24 and 4. Tulsa was able to keep the score close in the first half, Duke only had a four point lead at the half.

I wasn't expecting a close game and it wasn't, Duke took total control of the game in the second half shooting 63%. Nolan Smith led the Blue Devil scoring with 18 points, and Brian Zoubek had another good game pulling down 12 rebounds.

The Blue Devils played hard tonight and they will have to play that way each game, they only have a few more games left in the regular season and now is not a good time for them to relax.

Duke wins 67 to 55 over Virginia Tech and takes their record to 23 and 4. With Villanova losing today Duke should move up to #5 in the overall rankings tomorrow.

Kyle Singler led the Blue Devil scoring with 25 points, but Brian Zoubek pulled down 16 rebounds which gave Duke a lot of second shots.

This was another good game, Virginia Tech would keep the game close for a while, but they couldn't stop the Blue Devils Spurts. This was not a good shooting game for either team. Duke shot 29% and Virginia Tech shot 32%, but the Devils had 41 rebounds to Virginia Tech's 32 and that was the deciding difference.

Duke Takes Down Mighty Miami

Duke wins 81 to 74 over a tough Miami Team and runs their record to 22 and 4. The game belonged to Miami the first half, but Duke took over in the second half shooting 60% .

Kyle Singler led the Blue Devil scoring with 22 points. Scheyer and Smith came on in the second half to help the cause, but Brian Zoubek gets the MVP. Zoubek has played outstanding the last two games.

This was another good game, Duke got a 10 point lead in the second half, but Miami would not give up, they kept the game in range until they had to start fouling and Duke is very good from the line. It takes all Duke has to win on the road, and they had to give it all to beat Miami. Go Duke!!

New Game Played At Cameron Zoubekball

Coach K gets a nice Birthday present, a win over Maryland. Duke looked impressive, but they were a much bigger team than Maryland and they used that advantage to the fullest.

Brian Zoubek played his best game of the season with 16 points and 17 rebounds in the 77 to 56 win for the Blue Devils.

Jon Scheyer led the scoring for Duke with 22 points to move #8 Duke to 21 and 4 in the over all rankings. Duke will also stay on top in the ACC rankings. Maryland's record goes to 16 and 7.

I was expecting a close game, but Duke's size was just too much for Maryland. The Blue Devils also played some good defense and were able to shut down Maryland's hot shooting Vasquez the first half. Vasquez was able to come back in the second half and ended up being the top scorer for the Terrapins with 17 points.

Duke Takes Down The Tar Heels

I really didn't know who would win this game until the last 3 minutes, but Duke beats Carolina 64 to 54. It was close until the Blue Devils made a run in the last 3 minutes of the game.

Duke moves to 20 and 4 and Carolina drops to 13 and 11 in the over all rankings. It's been a bad year for UNC, but they gave Duke a run for the money tonight.

Jon Scheyer was the top scorer for Duke with 24 points, but the shooting percentage for the Devils was only 31%. They continue to have problems shooting on the road, but the Tar heels blocked just about every shot Duke took on the inside, so the Carolina defense had a lot to do with the poor shooting.

I am glad this game is over, I was not sure the Devils would beat UNC at home, but it's time to start worrying again because Duke plays the hot shooting Terrapins next, and all I can say about that game is I am glad they are playing them at home.

Another Close One For Duke

I wasn't expecting a close game, but anything can happen in the ACC. Duke wins a close one against Boston College 66 to 63. As usual Duke's 3 guards played well, but I haven't talked a lot about Brian Zoubek and he had another good game and played a big part in the Duke win.

Duke goes to 19 and 4 with this win and Boston College drops to 12 and 11. Duke will also stay on top of the ACC rankings. The Blue Devil shooting was not impressive especially from the free throw line, but they haven't shot well on the road all season.

I hope Duke can shoot better next game, because they will be on the road again and will be playing in the biggest rivalry in the country. That's right next game will be Duke and UNC. I know UNC hasn't played well, but you can forget the rankings when these two play. Don't let your guard down Duke fans, the Devils will need all the support you can give them against Carolina.

Duke Tells Tech "Not In Our House"

Georgia Tech beat Duke the first game, but found out playing Duke at home is a different story. The 3 S's, Scheyer, Smith and Singler took control of the game with Singler at the head with 30 points.

Duke just looked good tonight, they were able to get past the Tech press much better this game than they did the last time they played Georgia Tech. There were a lot of fouls called on each team, but that favored Duke, because they were better than Tech at the line.

The final score was 86 to 67, a solid win for Duke against a good Georgia Tech team. Duke goes to 18 and 4 and Georgia Tech goes to 16 and 6.

Dukes plays Boston College next Sat. Feb. 06 at 2:00 pm est. at Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Georgetown Too Hot For The Devils

Duke falls to Georgetown 89 to 77 taking their record to 17 and 4. Georgetown moves to 16 and 4. It was Georgetown the whole game, I think Duke had a one point lead in the first half, but it didn't last long.

Scheyer, Smith and Singler led the scoring for Duke, Monroe, Wright and Freeman led the scoring for Georgetown. Duke shot 39% while Georgetown shot an outstanding 71%.

Duke didn't shoot that well, but they didn't play a bad game, Georgetown was just shooting the lights out, at one point they were shooting 77%. It would have been hard for any team to beat Georgetown the way they were shooting.

This is not something new to the Blue Devils, many teams play their best when they meet Duke. Everyone wants to beat Duke, especially UNC, so Duke has to expect a hard game each time they play.

Duke Takes Down Florida State Seminoles

Duke defeats the Florida State Seminoles 70 to 56 tonight to take their record to 17 and 3. Florida State moves to 15 and 5. It was Duke all the way, and they played a very good Florida State team, but Duke played one of their best games yet.

The top scorer for the Blue Devils was Jon Scheyer with 22 points, but there was no star player tonight, every player on the Duke team was the star tonight. The playing was some of the best I have seen all year by the Duke players.

Florida State matched up good with Duke in the front court and if Duke had not had one of their better games the final turnout could have been different. Alabi and Singleton led Florida State in scoring with 14 points each.

As usual the Blue Devil defense was outstanding causing Florida State to turn the ball over 22 times, but Duke had game tonight and I hope they can keep playing the same way the rest of the season.

No More Half Court Duke Plays Half Game

Duke wins their first game on the road 60 to 47 tonight, with no offense in the first half. Nolan Smith led Duke with 22 points. The Blue Devils kept it close in the first half with their defense, but they only shot 24% in the first half.

They looked like a different team in the second half, led by some outstanding play by Smith. I don't know if Coach K said something or it just took the players a half to warm up, but it was like night and day as far as offense goes.

Booker led the scoring for Clemson with 22 points, but he didn't get any help. Clemson only had 2 players in double figures, Booker and Stitt with 10 points. Duke had a little trouble in the first half with Clemson's pressure, they turned the ball over 11 times, but only had 1 turnover in the second half.

It was a good road win for Duke let's hope they can continue. Duke goes to 16 and 3 and Clemson goes to 15 and 5.

Duke Falls To N.C. State

N.C. State handed Duke their 3rd loss of the season shooting 57% to Dukes 38%. Duke's shooting, when they play away from home has been a problem for them and even though they did a good job on the offensive boards it was not enough to make up for the lack of scoring from the outside.

N.C State's defense also had an impact on Duke. The Blue Devils don't normally turn the ball over more than their opponents, but the Devils turned the ball over 14 times, State only turned it over 9 times.

Even though I was having a pretty good day until State beat Duke, they played a good game and they deserve to win, the final score was N.C. State 88 Duke 74. Smith was States top scorer with 23 points. Kyle Singler led the scoring for Duke with 22 points.

This is not the end for the Blue Devils, this happens every year in the ACC conference, it's not an easy task to win in the ACC no matter what your ranking is. Just when you think Duke will start to move up in the rankings, they end up going down in the rankings. It's not easy being a Duke fan.

Duke's record overall goes to 15 and 3 while N.C. State moves to 13 and 6. If State continues to play as well as they did against Duke they should be moving up from the bottom of the ACC standings.

Duke Shocks Wake Forest Under The Basket

It wasn't Duke basketball tonight, but I liked it. The big men got tough for Duke and it was beautiful to watch. Wake played a tough game under the basket, but Duke matched their toughness. I have never seen a Duke team play so physical under the basket as they did tonight.

The Plumlee brothers are starting to make a name for themselves, they are getting better every game. Kyle Singler led the Blue Devils tonight with 21 points, he also had 12 rebounds. Nolan Smith was only one point behind with 20 points. Smith may not always be the top scorer for Duke, but he is invaluable to the Duke team.

It was a tightly called game tonight both teams received a lot of fouls, but it looked like Duke got the short end of the stick, but if you check the stats each team received 24 fouls. Even with all the fouls Duke wins 90 to 70 to go 15 and 2 overall. With both Purdue and Michigan State losing this week I look for Duke to move up to number 6 in the nation.

Aminu led the scoring for Wake Forest, McFarland also had a good game for Wake with 17 points. Wake Forest record stands at 12 and 4 overall, but they are a very tough team.

Singler Is Back!!

Nolan Smith was the star tonight, but the good news is he had some help, because Kyle Singler got his game back. Smith led the Blue Devils with 24 points and Singler added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

On defense Brian Zoubek had 11 rebounds, and he was looking good on offense even though he didn't score that much. Miles Plumlee was fired up tonight also he added 12 points to the Blue Devil win.

It was back and forth the first half, Duke went to the locker room with a 3 point lead 38 to 35. The second half was all Duke as they finished the game 79 to 59. The win moves Duke to 14 and 2 as Boston College goes to 10 and 7.

I am glad to see Duke come back with a win, but they can't let down they have a lot of ACC games left and they should know you don't let your guard down against any ACC team, because anything can happen. It already has happened, Duke lost to Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech Upsets Duke!

I shouldn't be surprised it happens every year, but I am disappointed. Georgia Tech put a lot of pressure on Duke, and that was a big part of the game, but Duke had no firepower. Jon Scheyer had 25 points, but had no help. Mason Plumlee played a good game and added 10 points, but except for Scheyer there was no outside shooting.

Lawal had 21 points to lead the scoring for Georgia Tech. Georgia tech played good defense the whole game, but the inability of Duke to shoot from the outside was the downfall of Duke. It was a bad loss for Duke because Purdue lost today so if Duke would have won this game they would have moved up to number 4 in the nation.

The final score was Georgia Tech 71 Duke 67. I really don't feel like writing this post, I am really upset right now, but I am sure the Duke players are upset more than I am, because they are a better team than what I saw today.

Duke Rolls Past Iowa State

Iowa State played a good game, but Duke was just too much for them. Duke goes to 13 and 1 and Iowa goes to10 and 4. The final score was 86 to 65. It was another outstanding game for Jon Scheyer, Scheyer led the Duke scoring with 31 points.

Iowa State played excellent defense especially under the basket, but if you cut off the inside on Duke they just take the game to the outside. Duke also draws a lot of fouls and they hit 19 out of 21 free throws (90%) tonight.

Duke has a lot of ACC matches coming up and anything can happen, but if the Blue devils will play hard they should be able to win most if not all their ACC games.

Duke Tames The Tigers

Duke takes down Clemson 74 to 53. I thought it would be a closer game, but it was a good win for Duke. This was a must win for Duke, their first conference game against a formidable team. The win moves Duke to 12 and 1 and Clemson goes to 12 and 3.

Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith led Duke with 22 points each. Duke didn't have any of the things I thought they needed to beat Clemson. They didn't have the fight in them and they didn't get the ball in to the big men.

They were able to shut down Clemson with their defense and Dukes shooting improved in the second half. I really think the key to Dukes win was their ability to get past the double team that Clemson uses so well. I am always happy to see the Blue Devils win, but I would still like to see a little more offense from the big guys, although they are doing a good job on defense.

Duke Doubles Up On Pennsylvania

Duke gets another easy win. I knew very early in the game it would be a 100 point game for the Blue Devils. Duke doubled up on Pennsylvania 114 to 55. The win moves Duke to 11 and 1 and Pennsylvania is still winless at 0 and 9.

Nolan Smith led Duke with 23 points, but Duke had 5 players in double figures. Duke did everything they needed to do, they played with a little fight in them and they got the ball in to the big men.

They will need to do exactly what they did tonight when they play Clemson next Sun. I feel confident Duke will play with some fight next Sun. because it would have been easy to lose the fight in an easy game, but they fought hard the whole game.

Easy Win For Duke

Duke takes an easy win over Long Beach State. There was never any doubt about this one, Duke had control the whole game. The win takes Duke to 10 and 1 and Long Beach State moves to 6 and 7.

It was another good night for Jon Scheyer, he led the scoring for Duke with 22 followed closely by Nolan Smith with 19. Brian Zoubek and Kyle Singler had 11 rebounds each. The final score was Duke 84 Long Beach State 63.

Duke Has Too Much "D" For Gonzaga

I was ready to watch a nail-biter tonight, but I got shocked. Gonzaga fell apart, they are not the team I saw tonight, they had a bad game. Duke did have a little to do with it though, they came into the game with a little fight in them, more than I have seen in their other games. Dukes defense just shut Gonzaga down, and Gonzaga was having an off night, so they were unable to make a game of it.

Nolan Smith led duke in scoring with 24 points and Jon scheyer followed with another 20 points. All of Dukes players looked good, but I haven't talked about Brian Zoubek much this year and he is really starting to be a big asset to the team. There is a lot of talent on the Duke team and I can only mention a few. I would like to see Duke play with the same fight they had tonight for the rest of the year. If they can do that and start getting the ball in to the big guys a little more they will be at the big dance at the end of the year. Final score tonight Duke 76 Gonzaga 41
