Duke Doubles Up On Pennsylvania

Duke gets another easy win. I knew very early in the game it would be a 100 point game for the Blue Devils. Duke doubled up on Pennsylvania 114 to 55. The win moves Duke to 11 and 1 and Pennsylvania is still winless at 0 and 9.

Nolan Smith led Duke with 23 points, but Duke had 5 players in double figures. Duke did everything they needed to do, they played with a little fight in them and they got the ball in to the big men.

They will need to do exactly what they did tonight when they play Clemson next Sun. I feel confident Duke will play with some fight next Sun. because it would have been easy to lose the fight in an easy game, but they fought hard the whole game.

Easy Win For Duke

Duke takes an easy win over Long Beach State. There was never any doubt about this one, Duke had control the whole game. The win takes Duke to 10 and 1 and Long Beach State moves to 6 and 7.

It was another good night for Jon Scheyer, he led the scoring for Duke with 22 followed closely by Nolan Smith with 19. Brian Zoubek and Kyle Singler had 11 rebounds each. The final score was Duke 84 Long Beach State 63.

Duke Has Too Much "D" For Gonzaga

I was ready to watch a nail-biter tonight, but I got shocked. Gonzaga fell apart, they are not the team I saw tonight, they had a bad game. Duke did have a little to do with it though, they came into the game with a little fight in them, more than I have seen in their other games. Dukes defense just shut Gonzaga down, and Gonzaga was having an off night, so they were unable to make a game of it.


Nolan Smith led duke in scoring with 24 points and Jon scheyer followed with another 20 points. All of Dukes players looked good, but I haven't talked about Brian Zoubek much this year and he is really starting to be a big asset to the team. There is a lot of talent on the Duke team and I can only mention a few. I would like to see Duke play with the same fight they had tonight for the rest of the year. If they can do that and start getting the ball in to the big guys a little more they will be at the big dance at the end of the year. Final score tonight Duke 76 Gonzaga 41

Duke Defeats Gardner-Webb With A Blue Thumb

Duke goes to 8 and 1 with a win over Gardner-Webb 113 to 68. Duke led the entire game and was in total control. Jon Scheyer had one of his best games to lead the Blue Devils in scoring with 36 points. Duke had 6 players in double figures.

I have to give Gardner-Webb credit they never gave up, but Duke was just too strong for them tonight. For some reason Duke seems to play well at home, so let's hope they can play as well as they did tonight in their next match up which will be away from home.

Duke Goes To 7 And 1 With Win Over St. Johns

After losing their last game Duke is able to forget the loss and beat a good St. Johns team 80 to 71. Duke started slow the first few minutes, but was in control the rest of the game.

St. Johns came back to within 4 points in the second half, but The Blue Devils held their ground. Kyle Singler led the scoring for Duke with 17 points, followed by Nolan Smith with 16 and Jon Scheyer with 15.

Duke tried to get the big men in on the offense in this game, Brian Zoubek had 11 points, but the big guys will need to start doing a little more scoring as the season goes on if they are going to be contenders for the big dance.

Wisconsin Upsets Duke

Wisconsin was able to shut down most of the Duke players to beat the Blue Devils 73 to 69. Kyle Singler was the only player the Badgers couldn't stop, Singler had 28 points.

I have seen Duke play better, but I really don't think they played bad, Wisconsin was just shooting so well and they also were able to shut down some of Dukes best shooters.

Andre Dawkins came through at the end of the game with four three pointers, but it was just a little too late to get the win. At one point in the game it looked like Kyle Singler was playing Wisconsin by himself, but that was just how good Wisconsin was able to shut down the Duke players.
